A private company requires liberty and peace to be active. Too many regulations hinder business with free thinking, and it is considered to be only in war time when business is done with physical danger. Liberty is sustained by authority and peace by military power. This is the reality we have to face since human history.
Since these things are not taught in a school education, some people may disagree. However, the choice of what authority and what military are up to us. It is not given unconditionally but owing to a historical circumstance. In countries that call for democracy, liberty at a certain level is secured. On the other hand, various kinds of liberty is restricted in socialistic countries, this is a fact that you all know.
A long time ago, military power is dependent on arrows and swords, mobile and fire power in the late modern period, and now a nuclear weapon is essential. From the ancient to the present, there is a difference in dimension and quality of the peace depending on the organized military force. As Japan is surrounded by nuclear weapons of China, North Korea, and Russia today, the peace in Japan is brought by balancing with the American nuclear umbrella.
The decline of U.S. would put Japan in the situation, regardless of whether we want it or not, to choose nuclear weapons as one of the options for national defense. For the time being, it seems like China, Russia, U.S., and even North Korea will not let go their nuclear weapon. Military and economic power control all the negotiation conducted behind peace. As tomorrow is the memorial day of the atomic bombing, we have to let the world know that Japan is an only country that has a right to exert nuclear power, in the meaning of the fact that we never made pre-emptive attack with a nuclear weapon.
Another option is economy. When mutualistic relationship, the “benefit” comes out for both parties, is assured, the economy is essentially peaceful.
Looking back to the past, when the mutualistic relationship is unbalanced and one tried to take away the wealth of another, a war broke out. Although other reasons such as a cultural exchange or thoughts would be a possible cause, the most familiar and interesting item for everyone is an international-business activity.
Laws of “supply and demand” and “nobody wants to make a loss” are called the market principles. Along with the principle, a final result that you get is wealth. In a larger scale, it’s national wealth and the world economy. Wealth does not exist by itself but it is energy resulted from human activities. The more activities are done with prevalence of liberty, the more wealth comes to the world. If you aim to have greater wealth and try to keep it, you just have to ask for a peace.
Economy is an activity, so relationship between individuals is made. The more you establish the relationship, the more you look for liberty and peace. On the other hand, the situation of Japan’s surroundings is getting worse. While the 3.11 earthquake might leave a shadow on us, annual white paper on defense has published two days ago. According to it, the China’s expansion to the sea is expressed as “dominating”. Moreover, North Korea is taking a step to the third nuclear test, meaning its nuclear armament in effect. Consequently, in Okinawa there has been reinforcement of U.S troops despite the fact that an issue of Futenma still remains unsolved.
China will cross Yarlung River before North Korea being armed with a nuclear weapon. There has been reinforcement of the People’s Liberation Army on the opposite shore from more than two years ago. As it is estimated to take half a day to conquer Pyongyang, I assume that South Korea will cross the 38th parallel in advance. To make that scheme possible, the U.S. Seventh Fleet has to be located near Japan. Perhaps, to make the border line stable, U.S. will not loosen the Marines in Okinawa.
In spite of the escalation of international tension, Japan’s media are acting as if they are under news blackout. Since the Kan administration bases on state socialism and their energy policy doesn’t make a sense, the corporates are starting to move their production bases to overseas. As a result, we will lose our domestic employment, and less activity equals smaller portion of wealth to end up in a serious depression which surely weakens national power. Tax increase for reconstruction is absolutely unnecessary.
Raising the tax could only worsen the recession. Replacing the most of politicians is necessary; a “quack” can’t cure Japan’s finance. The principle is simple: tax revenue increases by encouraging economic activities, and national wealth will increase too. Consequently, Japan will have more international relationships which would contribute to peacekeeping. We have to shift to the good circulation as soon as possible.
